* TERRORVISION'S SHUTTY *

Backstage before the gig at Manor Quay, Maddie caught up with Shutty from Terrorvision and asked him if he had dealt with his Tequila addiction yet…
That drink just goes on forever! There was a tequila shortage in this country, you know? It was getting trendy everywhere. It was in the Daily Express when the single was out.
Are you excited about the new single D'Ya Wanna Go Faster?
I think it's wonderful. It'll be a smash hit next year. We've just recorded a new album and this is the first single. We're going to tour right up until Christmas and then bring the single out after.
How does the new album shape up against the rest?
It's just yet another progression. I can't say how it's difficult, I leave that for people like you to tell me. We've been together 13 years and we're still the same people. We don't think 'well, we're going in this direction on this album'. It's Terrorvision in the next Millennium.
What's your opinion of the music press?
You can tell when journalists are trying to be trendy and when they're not. They try and wind you up sometimes. When we first got signed in 1991, the trendy thing among journalists was to review what record label you were on. There was one review in Melody Maker that basically said 'but they're on EMI so we won't bother with that'. There's no point getting het up about it, it's some spotty oik thinking it's trendy to review the label rather than the music. They want to talk about politics and why Labour should be in government. They're always going on about fascism and capitalism.
What about the music?
I call them ismists. Bloody ismists. I'm not political at all! I'm a drummer in a rock band. I wanna finish drumming and get heroically drunk. Do you remember when Danbert Nobacon out of that Chumbawamba threw a bucket of water over John Prescott? Fair play, what is a politician doing at music awards?
What do you think of the pop industry at the moment?
S Club 7 are good for the kids. Five aren't bad. I was very impressed with Steps, I saw them singing live recently and they were really good. Not that I'm championing Steps but they've got a lot of fans. That H from Steps is awful but they work. They're like the new Abba. Any song by anyone that is a good song. It doesn't matter what style or what artist, it's the song that influences. I hate Westlife and A1, they just howl. I like people who work; I don't like people who scrounge. I hate bands who moan about playing live. You shouldn't be in a band if you don't like playing live. I love it...
