SATOSHI TOMIIE IN PERSON
clubs & dance reporter, Garry Ogden, caught up with Satoshi Tomiie
at his plush hotel room in the very swanky Malmaison Hotel.....

Degrees North : You've just been to Miami last week to the Winter Music Conference, Can you tell me a bit about what went on there?

Satoshi Tomiie : Yeah, it's in its 13th or 14th year. They've been building the whole thing over the past few years and this year was maybe the biggest, it was a bit crazy. I enjoy it because it gives me the chance to see people I already know in the business, especially people from New York, who I don't get to see that much. It gives me the chance to catch up with them. I also enjoy meeting new people there.

Saw Recordings, my label had a big party in a club called Salvation, that was nice. The highlight was probably Danny Tenaglia's party at Space, he played a 17 or 18 hour set, so yeah I had a lot of fun.

DN : Obviously now your in the U.K, what do you like about playing in this country?

ST : The UK has been one of my favourite countries to play in for years, especially now, I really look forward to playing in this country.

DN : And what about the Shindig in particular, is it a special place for you to play?

ST : Yeah, this is like one my favourite places on the planet, so I'm really looking forward to it. The last couple of times have been great.

DN : On your latest release 'Love In Traffic' you worked with Keli Ali from the Sneaker Pimps, how did that come about?

ST : I gave her a track when I was making the album. She was only meant to do one track, but she ended up doing two and Love in Traffic was the first track she picked to write something onto. I'm very happy with the way it came out, the original and the remixes, it came out really nice.
